More Changes

Maeve had serious ambitions to further her musical career and was spending time working with Welsh National Opera. At the end of the summer term 2012, Maeve left us to pursue this musical career and Amy Slevin, a teacher at Q.E.H. School in Bristol, was appointed in her place. We also had a problem at the 2012 AGM time as Hilary had completed the 3 years of office which she had agreed to undertake and no replacement was forthcoming. As the Choir faced winding up, at the stroke of midnight, David Cahill came to the rescue by putting himself forward although he was a very busy working professor! Many thanks David.

In the summer of 2013, Amy our MD plighted her troth to Simon and became Amy Ward whilst continuing with her work at Q.E.H. school. Unfortunately for us, Simon received a job promotion during the course of the year which entailed a move to Dorking in Surrey and consequently at the end of the summer 2014, we had to bid a very fond farewell to Amy who had given us lots of fun and enjoyment.

The summer of 2014 saw us ‘hob-knobbing’ with Royalty. Our Social Secretaries Jane Beazer and Mary Horton arranged a social visit to the gardens of Highgrove House, residence of HRH The Prince of Wales. We didn’t get asked to serenade the residents but we did have a most interesting tour and lunch. It was lovely to spend time together as a choir getting to know each other better and fostering that special friendly Westbury Singers feeling which makes us different from other singing groups.
